About Uttaranchal

The state of Uttarakhand lies in north India with the international borders of Tibet and Nepal to its north. It has Himachal Pradesh to its west and Uttar Pradesh to its south. The state was carved out of the hilly parts of Uttar Pradeshin the year 2000. It was called Uttaranchal till 2006 and the new nameof Uttarakhand was adopted in 2007. Historically this area had two hillkingdoms of Garhwal and Kumaon, and even today people see themselves as Garhwali and Kumaoni.

Thenorthern areas of Uttarakhand are part of the Great Himalayas range,with average heights up to 3000-5000 metres. The famous peaks are Nanda Devi (7816m), Trishul (7120m) and Panchchuli (6910m). Southern Uttarakhandhas plains that are part of the Terai foothills, where temperatures arehigher and towns more accessible. The state is not industriallydeveloped and tourism is the mainstay of the economy. For the last 7years, Dehradun, the largest town, has been its provisional capital. It has a well-connected railhead and a small domestic airport.

The source of India's most revered and important rivers Ganges as well as Yamuna, respectively called Gangotri and Yamunotri, lie here. Day 01 : Delhi - Corbett National Park (280 km)
Morning drive to Corbett National park, on arrival check in at the wildlife resort. rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at stay resort.

Day 02 : Corbett National Park 
Morning nature walk to the national park, then return to the resort for breakfast, after a short rest visit to Garjiya Temple along with river Kosi, after lunch game drive to the national park. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 03 : Corbett – Ranikhet (100 km), 03-04 Hrs
Morning after breakfast drive to Ranikhet, Situated at 1829 mtrs this sylvan retreat offers an interesting mix of hill & military cultures. According to legends, a queen, in the course of a journey came by this spot & was so enchanted by it that she settled down here. Ranikhet has forest of oak & pine and is a fine place to enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayas, from the Bhagiriti peaks in the west to the Nanda kot in the east. It is an ideal holiday for nature lovers and its main attractions, apart from it's natural beauty are a golf course, the orchids of Chaubatia and the Jhoola Devi temple. Ranikhet discovered by Lord Mayo in 1869 and developed as a cantonment for the Imperial Soldiers, Ranikhet is perched at an altitude of 1829 meters. Day 04 : Ranikhet
Morning after breakfast, visit the ridge which offers a breathtaking view of Mt. Nanda Devi. Later continue to the Golf course at Upat, the government fruit garden and the Research Station at Chaubatia. O/N stay at Hotel.

Day 05 : Ranikhet – Kausani (72 km), 03-04 Hrs
Morning after breakfast drive to Kausani, on arrival check in at the hotel. Kausani offering excellent views of the Trishul, Nanda Devi and Pancha Chulli, there are very few places in the Himalayas which can compare with the beauty of Kausani - A picturesque hill station famous for its scenic splendor and its spectacular 300 km-wide majestic view of the Himalayas. It has its everything for a nature lover. Kausani is frequented by tourists for the panoramic views of the Himalayas. Day 06 : Kausani
Early morning starts your day with the view of Sunrise on the Himalayan range and after breakfast visit to Baijnath Temple. Back to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 07 : Kausani – Almora (53 km), 02-03 Hrs

Day 8 : Almora
Morning after breakfast sightseeing tour of Almora. visit including Public Museum, Nanada Devi Temple, Chetai Temple, Deer park. Overnight at hotel.

Public Museum in Almora (Collecation of art and crafts of Uttaranchal)  
Near Almora bus stand is the Govind Vallabh Pant Public Museum. This museum provides a deep insight of the development of art, culture, life style of this region. It has a very rich collection items relating to Archaeological, Historic and cultural significance.

Nanda Devi Temple - Almora
This ancient temple is one of the main attractions of Almora town. This temple is hundreds of year old and carries deep faith of many people from this area. The images and statues on walls of this temple are intricately and delicately carved. They are very attractive and almost true to life depiction has been done. Every year a fair, Nanda Devi Fair, is organized in Almora.

Chetai Temple - Almora
The local people have much faith on this temple. The Chetai temple is located eight kms from Almora. This temple is surrounded by dense fur and pine tree forest. If you are a nature lover then you will certainly enjoy this place.

Deer Park- Almora
Deer park is located some three kms from Almora. An evening stroll in Deer park has its own pleasure.

Day 09 : Almora – Nainital (64 km), 02-03 Hrs

Day 10 : Nainital
Morning after breakfast lake tour visit Including Sattal, Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal, Nainital, in the afternoon enjoy boat ride on Naini Lake. Overnight at hotel.
